Chris O’Brien Lifehouse (COBL) is a not-for-profit, independent comprehensive centre providing advanced treatment and conducting cutting edge research for rare and complex cancer cases across both public and private sectors.

10 operating theatres, 1 radiology suite, and 1 procedure room

Head & Neck Gynae-oncology Breast Plastics & Reconstructive Endoscopy Upper Gastrointestinal Tract Colorectal Cardiothoracic Neurology Urology Robotic Interventional RadiologyThe Perioperative New Graduate (NG) program offers two clinical streams supporting NGs to develop an in-depth understanding of the patient journey and perioperative nursing roles:
- Anaesthetics & Post-Anaesthetics Recovery Unit (PARU) – include experience in Day Surgery Unit (DSU)
- Scrub/Scout - includes rotations through the Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology and Day Surgery Unit (DSU)
Employment Details:
- NGs are employed 0.9 full-time equivalent (72 hours per fortnight)
- The program runs over a 2-year maximum term contract with permanent employment opportunities available
Eligibility & Selection Criteria
Applicants must:
- Successfully complete their study and be eligible for AHPRA registration
- Be available for 24 months’ employment at 72 hours per fortnight
- Hold Australian citizenship, permanent residency or a visa that allows full Australian working rights for the duration of the program (COBL does not sponsor student visa holders)
- Hold a current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- National Police Check (within the last 6 months or willingness to obtain)
- Compliance with Category A immunisation requirements
- Commitment to ongoing learning and development
- Previous theatre placement desirable or working as AIN in acute care facility
