The Opportunity
Chris O’Brien Lifehouse is seeking an experienced and compassionate Clinical Nurse Specialist in Breast Cancer (CNS 2) to join our medical and surgical breast nursing team. This role supports patients across inpatient and outpatient settings, providing coordinated, evidence-based care throughout their breast cancer journey. The CNS will work in outpatient clinics for 3 days, positions available in Day Therapy/Medical Oncology/Palliative care to make up full time hours if required.
As part of our multidisciplinary model of care, the CNS will work collaboratively with surgical, medical, and allied health teams to deliver advanced breast cancer nursing, patient education, and clinical support.
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced breast cancer nursing care across outpatient and inpatient areas.
- Run nursing-led Breast & Medical Oncology clinics.
- Attend MDT meetings, assist registrar clinics, and chaperone specialists.
- Provide patient education, psychosocial support, referrals, and resources.
- Support continuity of care and care coordination across the patient journey.
- Contribute to quality improvement and evidence‑based practice initiatives.
Essential Criteria:
- Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
- Advanced clinical skills in Breast nursing.
- Experience in patient education and teaching.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills within multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to quality improvement and best-practice care.
Desirable Criteria:
- Post‑graduate studies or graduate certificate in Oncology (or working towards).
- Experience in specialist breast cancer nursing or related cancer care.
