About the Role 

The Infection Prevention and Control Clinical Nurse Consultant is pivotal in the implementation and oversight of infection control systems, policies, and processes at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse. As part of a well established, high performing Quality and Safety team, this role ensures the hospital maintains the highest standards of infection prevention and control, aligning with national and state standards and guidelines, and fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Essential Skills and Qualifications 

  • NSW Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife - with 3 years full time equivalent post registration experience in Infection Control or equivalent
  • Approved post graduate nursing qualifications in Infection Control or such qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the organisation
  • Demonstrated ability to review, develop, implement and evaluate institutional wide infection control policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated experience in facility preparation for NSQHS Standards accreditation
  • Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practise through the initiation and participation in quality improvement and, or research projects and activities relevant to Infection Control
  • Demonstrated highly developed written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal and problem-solving capabilities Infection Control
  • Intermediate to advanced MS 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
  • Strong computer literacy with demonstrated working knowledge and experience of electronic clinical and administrative applications i.e. Meditech, Riskman and Sharepoint.
  • National Police Check (within the last 6 months or willingness to obtain)
  • Compliance with Category A immunisation requirements
  • Current APHRA registration

Desirable

  • Demonstrated expert clinical skills and the ability to provide expert clinical education and training on complex issues.
  • Change Management: Demonstrated expertise in leading and managing organisational change related to infection control practices, ensuring smooth transition and adoption by staff.
