The Opportunity

We are seeking and experienced and patient-focused Nurse Unit Manager to join our surgical ward 8N caring for patients across Head and Neck & Thoracic surgery specialties.

You will have the opportunity to join our dynamic team, offering patient-centric care in a supportive, multidisciplinary team environment, including support from over 30 Specialist nurses, Educators and Nurse Practitioners.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Nurse Unit Manager for our busy surgical ward. You will be responsible for the day to day running of the 24 bed ward with support from inpatient services manager.  You will be integral to the ongoing development of the unit and support for skilled and specialised head and neck nursing team across the hospital.

Your clinical leadership skills will ensure the team provides a consistently high standard of patient care. Your management skills will provide a work environment which supports growth and development of your staff. You will be responsible for the effective and efficient management of all resources in the 8N. This position is supported by a full-time CNE, and a head and Neck NP & CNS 2.

Essential Skills Requirement and Qualifications

  • Current (AHPRA) Registration.
  • Post Graduate qualification
  • Minimum 5 years post graduate ICU nursing experience and relevant clinical management experience and or post-graduate in health management.
  • Experience in both public and private health settings is preferred.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Commitment to achieving excellence in quality through continuous improvement.
  • Committed to continuing education and professional development.
  • Computer literacy and understanding/experience in use of rostering/incident systems.        
  • Proven ability to create and maintain positive workplace culture and articulate and achieve a vision for nursing services.
