About the role:

Applicants are invited for a full-time Radiation Oncology Fellowship for up to 12 months duration commencing in mid-late 2026. 

The Radiation Oncology department treats a wide range of cancers and has a well-established cranial stereotactic radiosurgery, stereotactic body radiotherapy and brachytherapy programs and is also part of the Lifehouse Sarcoma Specialist Centre with a dedicated bone and soft tissue sarcoma unit. 

The Radiation Oncology Fellow is an integral part to our clinical services, working closely with the specialists and multidisciplinary teams. The role is aimed at applicants who have completed their radiation oncology training and wish to enhance their clinical and research interests.

Your main duties will be to:

  • Delivery of high-quality radiation oncology clinical care for both in- and out-patients with supervision by the Radiation Oncologists as required. This will include:
    • Attendance at clinics and MDTs;
    • Provision of ward in-patient care;
    • Providing clinic cover for consultants.
  • Participation in the on-call roster;
  • Developing your speciality interest;
  • Participation in clinical research (in an existing project, or to initiate and develop a clinical project) with aims to present or publish the research work;
  • Promote and encourage a culture of research within the department;
  • Active participation in quality assurance and audit activities of the department;
  • Undertaking teaching and providing leadership and mentoring of Radiation Oncology trainees;
  • Assist with teaching of residents, medical students and allied health staff within the hospital.

Selection Criteria

  • Successful completion of the Fellowship Phase 2 radiation oncology examinations of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists, or equivalent, before mid-2026.
  • Currently possess medical registration with AHPRA, or be eligible for this by 31/8/2026;
  • Ability to accept responsibility and carry out specific tasks with minimal supervision but possess professional judgment to determine the need to seek advice from senior medical staff.
  • Ability and willingness to teach at various levels, including undergraduates, post graduate oncology trainees, and nursing personnel.
  • Evidence of immunisations to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy for a Category A position

To be successful for this role you will need to demonstrate:

  • High standards in all aspects of radiation oncology clinical care in accordance with current best (evidence-based) practice and has demonstrated adequate skills to manage patients independently.
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Interest and commitment to research.
  • Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  • Commitment to continuing professional development and self-education.
  • Commitment to teaching and supervision.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call roster.
