About the role:

The Day Surgery Unit Registered Nurse will be responsible for the delivery of care to pre- and post-operative patients at the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse. The Registered Nurse must be proficient in assessing and responding to the needs of surgical patients, administering treatments, recognising and responding to complications and coordinating care with other members of the clinical team.

The Day Surgery Unit is open Monday to Saturday, morning and afternoon. The position works collaboratively with patients, families, carers and multidisciplinary teams to provide safe, compassionate, person-centred health care. The successful incumbent will utilise effective team communication in the planning, implementation, assessment, and evaluation of patient care.

Essential Criteria: 

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse Division 1 with AHPRA.
  • Demonstrated experience and clinical skill in an acute hospital setting as a registered nurse (eg. completion of a new graduate year)
  • Demonstrated capacity to provide effective nursing care that is person centred, family inclusive and culturally sensitive to people accessing health services.
  • Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work.
  • Demonstrated effective communications written and verbal skills.
  • Evidence of immunisations to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy for a Category A position
