About the role

Your opportunity as the new Clinical Receptionist will be to effectively manage the front line services to all patients, family and visitors within COBL. In particular, this position is required to triage enquiries and the needs of patients/visitors and ensure the smooth operation through the COBL main reception and entry way.

Key Responsibilities

• Report and action patient customer service
• Protect the confidentiality of patient clinical records without compromising appropriate clinical workforce access to patient clinical information
• Utilise effective questioning skills and a consultative approach to accurately interpret the needs of customer’s (internal and external to the organisation) and demonstrates effective problem-solving skills to provide a flexible service that meets these needs
• Determine patient requirements and deliver services at a high standard in a responsive and timely manner
• Become a part of, and promote a team environment by showing respect, and acknowledging and validating other team members

Essential Criteria

• Knowledge of hospital billing and receipting procedures, including inpatient, non-inpatient, and Medicare ineligible patient accounts, with experience in private hospital settings.
• Proven experience with hospital patient billing systems, health fund contracts, member eligibility checks, and accurate processing of patient accounts.
• Skilled in debt collection, financial administration, and maintaining high accuracy in billing records, with strong numerical and attention-to-detail skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, including professional telephone manner, customer service, and effective teamwork.
• Highly organised and proactive professional with strong time management, decision-making skills, initiative, and proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
