Rotational Hospital Pharmacist

  • Outpatient dispensary role with rotation to other clinical areas;
  • To provide education and advice to patients about their medication
  • Dispenses medications by compounding, packaging, and labelling medicines.
  • Liaise and collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
  • Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians’ workflow; verifying their preparation and labelling of pharmaceuticals.
  • Participation in clinical programs; training pharmacy staff, students, interns, and health care professionals.
  • Comply with legislative requirements
  • Maintain records for controlled substances
  • Patient-centered approach to delivering care

Outpatient Pharmacist

  • Clinical verification and dispensing of outpatient prescriptions- including medicinal cannabis, oral chemotherapy and related medications, immunomodulators and pain medications.
  • Understanding and adherence to local and legislative requirements in relation to dispensing and management of prescriptions including PBS requirements.
  • Liaise with clinicians on the safe and quality use of medications.
  • Provide education and counselling on the safe use of medications

Essential Criteria:

  • Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Association (AHPRA)    
  • Completion of the eviQ Pharmacy Anti-cancer drug course (free).                                                                                                       
  • Must have experience in hospital pharmacy practice or a strong clinical practice background.
  • Up-to-date drug knowledge particularly oncology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with all members of the health care team, patients and carers, contractors and vendors.
  • An appreciation of the principles of medication safety.
  • An understanding of the delivery of cancer care in a tertiary institution.
  • Evidence of immunisations to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy for a Category A position
