About the role
Our day therapy unit is looking for nurses with a background of experience in oncology and/or haematology, or registered nurses with other specialist backgrounds looking to move into the field of cancer. As a Chemotherapy Nurse, you will be responsible for the administration of chemotherapy and supportive treatments, education of treatment side effects and the effective strategies for the management of these side effects.
Working alongside a growing team of nurses in our Day Therapy unit, you'll have the opportunity to join a team that embraces "team nursing" and free-flowing communication. Working in a facility is state-of-the-art and new, you'll really have the opportunity to provide our patients with exceptionally high standards of care, while being a part of the growth and development of the unit. You will be supported by a team of senior staff including nurse specialists, clinical nurse educator and oncology nurse practitioner.
Essential Criteria
- Local candidates with current Registration with current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse Division 1
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment
- A flexible, motivated ‘can do’ attitude
- Relevant tertiary or equivalent Oncology or Haematology qualifications, or equivalent work practice is desirable
- Recent clinical experience in an Oncology or Haematology setting or another specialist field is desirable
- Understanding of cytotoxic medication
- Understanding of WH&S requirements for handling cytotoxic material
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Computer Literacy
- Evidence of immunisations to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy for a Category A position
