Chris O’Brien Lifehouse is seeking an experienced and compassionate Breast Care Nurse to join our medical and surgical breast nursing team. This role supports patients across inpatient and outpatient settings, providing coordinated, evidence-based care throughout their breast cancer journey.
As part of our multidisciplinary model of care, the Breast Care Nurse will work collaboratively with surgical, medical, and allied health teams to deliver advanced breast cancer nursing, patient education, and clinical support.
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced breast cancer nursing care across outpatient and inpatient areas.
- Run nursing-led breast clinics including assessment and follow-up.
- Attend MDT meetings, assist registrar clinics, and chaperone specialists.
- Perform hormone and bone injections, wound care, drain management, and minor post-surgical procedures.
- Provide patient education, psychosocial support, referrals, and resources.
- Support continuity of care and care coordination across the patient journey.
- Contribute to quality improvement and evidence‑based practice initiatives.
Essential Criteria:
- Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
- Post‑graduate certificate in Breast Care (or working towards).
- Advanced clinical skills in Breast and/or Gynaecology nursing.
- Experience in patient education and teaching.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills within multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to quality improvement and best-practice care.
Desirable Criteria:
- Post‑graduate studies or graduate certificate in Oncology (or working towards).
- Experience in specialist breast cancer nursing or related cancer care.
