Clinical Trials Pharmacist  

We are seeking a motivated and detail orientated Clinical Trials Pharmacist to join our pharmacy in delivering innovative oncology treatments to patients of Lifehouse. You will collaborate closely with multidisplinary teams to ensure the use of investigational drugs in accordance to protocol requirements. Lifehouse is involved in Phase 0 to Phase 3 studies and you will have a crucial role in the execution and management of these trials. In addition to clinical trials, the team also manages Medicines Access Programs  and medicines accessed via Special Access Program pathways.

  • Review patients and treatment orders to ensure protocol compliance and patient safety
  • Prepare and dispense study medications in accordance with protocol and legislative requirements
  • Review and assess investigational drug protocols for feasibility
  • Educate other healthcare professionals and patients on safe handling and administration of investigational products
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of clinical trial activities
  • Maintain accurate records and documents in accordance with ICH GCP Guidelines and legislative requirements
  • Facilitate access to medicines through Medicines Access Programs and Special access Program pathways.
  • Discuss Informed Financial Consent with patients for non PBS treatments

Rotational Hospital Pharmacist

  • Clinical pharmacist role with rotation to other clinical areas;
  • To provide education and advice to patients about their medication
  • Dispenses medications by compounding, packaging, and labelling medicines.
  • Liaise and collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
  • Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians’ workflow; verifying their preparation and labelling of pharmaceuticals.
  • Participation in clinical programs; training pharmacy staff, students, interns, and health care professionals.
  • Comply with legislative requirements
  • Maintain records for controlled substances
  • Patient-centered approach to delivering care

 Essential Criteria:

  • Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Association (AHPRA)    
  • Completion of the eviQ Pharmacy Anti-cancer drug course (free).                                                                                                       
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a hospital pharmacist with a focus on clinical oncology or clinical trials
  • Up-to-date drug knowledge particularly oncology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with all members of the health care team, patients and carers, contractors and vendors.
  • An appreciation of the principles of medication safety.
  • Confidence using various software applications
  • An understanding of the delivery of cancer care in a tertiary institution.
  • Evidence of immunisations to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy for a Category A position
